An MRI is scheduled for Thursday to confirm the diagnosis, according to the team.
It's a brutal blow for the 30-year-old. Gay's name has been bandied heavily about as the trade deadline nears. The 11-year NBA veteran hasn't hid his desire to be dealt, and stated he plans on opting out of his contract if he's not traded.
