Lakers' Russell out at least 2 weeks after knee procedure
Los Angeles Lakers guard D'Angelo Russell will miss a minimum of two weeks after receiving platelet-rich plasma treatment for his left knee, the team announced Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Russell was initially ruled out for two games after the issue had bothered him for a week or so. At the time, Lakers coach Luke Walton acknowledged the No. 2 pick of the 2015 draft might have to be shut down temporarily.
Platelet-rich plasma treatment (PRP) is a procedure in which an athlete's own platelets are drawn, spun in a centrifuge, and re-injected into the affected area. NBAers like Dwight Howard have used it in the past.
The Lakers said Russell will be re-evaluated in one week.
The 20-year-old leads the Lakers in assists (4.8), and is second in scoring (16.1).
