Rajon Rondo of the Chicago Bulls missed Tuesday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers due to a left ankle sprain, while Jerian Grant started in his place.
Coach Fred Hoiberg told reporters Rondo suffered the injury during practice on Monday. The point guard was coming off his first scoreless outing of the season, an 0-for-6 performance from the floor in Saturday's win over the Washington Wizards.
Shooting has never been Rondo's strong suit, but he's been particularly ineffective this year, hitting just 34.1 percent of his shots on just over nine attempts per game. He does lead the Bulls in assists.
