Paul George sits against Celtics

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Indiana Pacers star Paul George did not play Saturday against the Boston Celtics. George is dealing with a sprained left ankle suffered in Friday's loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

George also sprained his left thumb in that game, but remained in the contest. Pacers coach Nate McMillan said the ankle swelled up during the day Saturday, ruling him out. C.J. Miles started in his place.

The Pacers are 12.7 points per 100 possessions worse offensively with George off the floor this season. Through nine games, he's shooting a career-high 47.7 percent on just under 22 points per game.
