The Boston Celtics waived swingman R.J. Hunter on Monday after handing their 15th roster spot to James Young, the team announced.
Both Hunter and Young were available for a second-round pick, Wojnarowski noted Saturday, but no team apparently met their price. That meant the Celtics had to shed one of them as rosters league-wide trimmed down to 15 on Monday.
The Celtics drafted Hunter 28th overall in 2015. He struggled mightily as a rookie, averaging just 2.7 points, but the 6-foot-7 swingman profiles as a talented offensive wing with 3-point range.
