Jerryd Bayless comes into 2016-17 as the Philadelphia 76ers' presumed starting point guard, but a wrist injury will prevent him from starting the season.

The ninth-year veteran is suffering from a left wrist ligament injury and will be re-evaluated in two weeks. The good news for the Sixers is Bayless won't require surgery.

Philadelphia general manager Bryan Colangelo signed Bayless to a three-year, $27-million contract in the offseason. Bayless played under Colangelo previously with the Toronto Raptors, and figured to be the Sixers' starter ahead of T.J. McConnell and Sergio Rodriguez.
