Grizzlies' Tony Allen: Will not play on Wednesday
Allen (knee) won't play in Wednesday's preseason finale versus the Timberwolves, Michael Wallace of Grizzlies.com reports.
Analysis:
Allen will conclude the preseason without logging a single minute, as a sore right knee has plagued him for much of training camp. The Grizzlies have insisted all along that Allen will be ready to go for the Oct. 26 season opener against the Timberwolves, but he'll need to demonstrate in practices over the next week that he's back to full strength. If Allen remains sidelined for the start of the season, Vince Carter, Wade Baldwin, James Ennis and Troy Daniels would be tasked with covering all the minutes at shooting guard.
