Grizzlies' JaMychal Green: Rocky start to starting tenure
Green provided only three points (1-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three rebounds, two blocks and an assist over 25 minutes in Thursday's 104-83 preseason loss to the Hawks.
Analysis:
Green, the Grizzlies' newly announced starting power forward, was a disaster in this contest. In addition to shooting the ball poorly, he failed to provide much of an impact on the boards. Meanwhile, Zach Randolph, who Green is replacing in the starting five, provided 10 points and two rebounds off the bench. Green is the more athletic talent of the two big men and his skill set better aligns with coach David Fizdale's ideal of pushing the tempo, but Randolph, a steady source of scoring and rebounding throughout his career, should frequently outproduce Green. The playing time could end up being divided evenly between the two, if not slanted in Randolph's favor.
