Nash: Warriors have potential to be best offense ever

Having served as the focal point of a historically efficient attack that revolutionized the league, two-time MVP Steve Nash knows a thing or two about offenses.

And in Nash's estimation, the revamped Golden State Warriors (for whom he works as an advisor) have the potential to produce the greatest offense in NBA history.

"This team potentially could be better than any team in NBA history (on offense)," Nash told reporters Wednesday. "But again, that's just potential."

The Warriors put the league on notice with a 120-75 smackdown of the Los Angeles Clippers during preseason action Tuesday. As expected, Kevin Durant joining their 73-win core from a season ago produced terrifying results, as Golden State established a 71-33 advantage by halftime over a Clippers team that's expected to challenge for second-best in the West.

Playing with their signature pace and proclivity to pass, Golden State's offense recorded 29 assists while shooting better than 50 percent from the field and from deep. They also toed the line a whopping 39 times (up from their average of 22 per game last season).

"They have to find a way to play together," Nash said. "If they can find that, sure, they can be the best offensive team. But the culture here is to try to be the best defensive team and the offense will take care of itself."
