Lakers' Lou Williams: Leads all scorers in preseason opener

Williams totaled 15 points (2-7 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 11-12 FT), two assists, a rebound and a steal across 21 minutes in Tuesday's 103-84 preseason victory over the Kings.

Analysis:

Williams didn't have an efficient shooting night, but his ability to get to the free-throw line -- something he succeeded at last season -- helped him post a game-high scoring total. The veteran started at shooting guard while Jordan Clarkson came off the bench, but coach Luke Walton deemed it as a temporary arrangement. During the upcoming campaign, Williams is expected to serve as the Lakers' first guard off the bench, though with an improved roster that also includes No. 2 overall pick Brandon Ingram on the second unit, look for Williams' usage rate to take a hit.
