Report: Charlie Villanueva exploring options to play in China
Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook's prophecy is coming true.
Longtime veteran forward Charlie Villanueva is exploring options to play in the Chinese Basketball Association, according to international reporter David Pick.
Villanueva finished last season as a member of the Dallas Mavericks. He played sparingly, but wound up in the spotlight when he purposefully interrupted Westbrook's pregame dance routine during the playoffs.
A war of words ensued as Villanueva and members of the Oklahoma City Thunder traded barbs. The most notable quip produced came from Durant, who muttered under his breath that Villanueva "might not be in the league" next season, after Westbrook slammed Villanueva for being a bench player.
The 32-year-old Villanueva averaged 5.1 points and 2.5 rebounds last season while shooting 38.2 percent from the field.
