Baron Davis hoping for NBA return
It may be more than four years since Baron Davis last played a game in the NBA, but the 6-foot-3 point guard is still yearning for a return to the Association.
"I’m trying to get back to the NBA," Davis told the L.A. Times' Jesse Dougherty. "Well, let’s hope I can. Let’s hope."
Davis already attempted a comeback last season, playing in six games for the D-League's Delaware 87ers, but failed to do enough to earn a 10-day contract from one of the NBA's 30 teams.
At 37 years old, Davis is far removed from his prime years and will likely struggle to crack a NBA roster in 2016-17. The California native last suited up for the New York Knicks in 2011-12, where he averaged just 6.1 points and 4.7 assists in 29 games.
Chosen with the third pick in the 1999 Draft, Davis spent time with the Charlotte/New Orleans Hornets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Knicks before his career was abruptly ended by a serious knee injury.
