The Brooklyn Nets had face-to-face discussions with Dion Waiters regarding a possible offer sheet earlier this month in Las Vegas, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.
The Nets decided not to make an offer to the then-restricted free agent, Stein reports. Waiters is now an unrestricted free agent after the Oklahoma City Thunder rescinded their qualifying offer to the 24-year-old guard.
The Nets roster needs, for lack of a better term, players, and is especially thin at shooting guard. Waiters has well-known efficiency issues but at the end of the day can score.
The Syracuse product's best NBA season came in 2013-14 when he averaged just under 16 points and near 37-percent 3-point shooting with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
