Pistons agree to terms with Leuer on 4-year, $42M contract
The Detroit Pistons have lured Jon Leuer to the Motor City.
The free-agent power forward will ink a four-year, $42-million contract with the Pistons, his agency said Saturday.
Even at what's forming as close to the base annual salary for mid-level rotation players - $10.5 million per season - Leuer can be viewed as a decent value play. The 6-foot-10, 230-pounder had a career year in his lone season with the Phoenix Suns in 2015-16, averaging 8.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy had been on record as looking for more bigs who can stretch the floor, and Leuer could fit the bill with a career 37.5 percent mark from deep. News of the signing of Leuer came around the same time that reports surfaced Al Horford had ruled the Pistons off of his short list.
