Coming off his NBA championship win with the Cleveland Cavaliers, point guard Kyrie Irving has accepted an invitation from USA Basketball to suit up for the Olympic team this summer, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.
The addition of Irving will complete the final 12-man roster set to compete in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in August:
Player | Team |
---|---|
Kyle Lowry | Toronto Raptors |
Kyrie Irving | Cleveland Cavaliers |
Klay Thompson | Golden State Warriors |
DeMar DeRozan | Toronto Raptors |
Jimmy Butler | Chicago Bulls |
Paul George | Indiana Pacers |
Harrison Barnes | Golden State Warriors |
Carmelo Anthony | New York Knicks |
Kevin Durant | Oklahoma City Thunder |
Draymond Green | Golden State Warriors |
DeMarcus Cousins | Sacramento Kings |

His reported commitment to the team comes a week after the Cavaliers captured their first title in franchise history by defeating the Golden State Warriors in a classic Game 7 matchup at Oracle Arena.
The 24-year-old scored 26 points in 43 minutes of action that night, including a clutch 3-pointer over reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry to put Cleveland on top late in the fourth quarter. Irving averaged 27.1 points on 46.8 percent shooting, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.9 assists during the Finals.
