An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of former Oklahoma City Thunder part owner Aubrey McClendon found no evidence pointing toward suicide, Reuters reports.
McClendon died at the age of 56 in a single-vehicle crash in March. Authorities said McClendon drove into the foot of a bridge at a high rate of speed and seemingly made no attempt to stop.
A day before his death, McClendon was indicted on charges of conspiring to rig bids for the purchase of oil and natural gas leases in northwest Oklahoma. A violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in jail and a $1 million fine.
McClendon denied the allegations, claiming he was singled out and he would fight to clear his name.
McClendon held a 20 percent stake in the Thunder dating back to his involvement in the ownership group, led by Clay Bennett, that purchased the Seattle Supersonics in 2008.
