Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star LeBron James may soon have a teammate by his side for one of his upcoming film ventures.

Producers of "Space Jam 2," which is reportedly in the early stages of development, have reached out to Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith concerning a potential role in the film, according to TMZ Sports.

Smith's representative, Daniel Hazan, told the site that the producers contacted him weeks ago to ask if the 30-year-old would like to join the cast.

"There is mutual interest," Hazan said. "It all depends on the deal."

Justin Lin of "Fast and Furious 6" and "Star Trek Beyond" fame is slated to direct, with a script currently being written up.

While James is set to star as the lead in the movie, ESPN's Brian Windhorst reports that a deal has yet to be struck between the two parties.
