Corey Heim: Getting another Cup start

Heim will drive the No. 43 Toyota in Sunday's Cup Series race at Kansas while Erik Jones (back) rests for one more week, Legacy Motor Club announced Thursday.

Analysis:

Jones was cleared by doctors to return, but the team is using an abundance of caution and giving him another week to rest his back injury suffered at Talladega. Heim made his Cup Series debut last week at Dover filling in for Jones and had a solid 25th place showing. He will look to do even better at Kansas this week, a track where Toyota has dominated in the Next Gen car. A good run on Sunday could go a long way for Heim potentially getting a Cup Series team to take a shot on him going into the 2025 season. Heim will also run the Truck Series race on Saturday night in his No. 11 Toyota for TRICON Garage where he sits second in the standings.
