Jimmie Johnson: Crash and DNF at Austin

Johnson crashed and finished 38th in the Echopark Texas Grand Prix NASCAR Cup Series race at Circuit of the Americas Sunday afternoon.

Analysis:

Johnson's tough reacquaintance with NASCAR continued Sunday at the Circuit of the Americas. He'd suffer a poor starting spot on the grid due to a subpar qualifying effort. The mayhem of lap 1 would see several cars get together in turn 19 with Brad Keselowski coming to a stop in the middle of the track and several drivers dodging to avoid him. Johnson would catch hard contact in the side from Ty Dillon and the damage would be extensive. The team would fail to make repairs on the clock and Johnson would be retired due to the damaged vehicle policy.
