The Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 15 and the Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway on March 22 have been postponed, NASCAR announced Friday.

"NASCAR has decided to postpone the race events at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend and Homestead-Miami Speedway next weekend," the announcement read. "We believe this decision is in the best interest of the safety and well-being of our fans, competitors, officials, and everyone associated with our sport. We will continue to monitor this dynamic situation as we assess future race events."

The postponements come as concerns continue to grow about the coronavirus.

On Thursday, NASCAR announced it would continue with race events as scheduled, but without fans in attendance. Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez then issued a statement postponing the event at Homestead with the county under a state of emergency.

The next race on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule following the postponed events is the O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on March 29.
