NASCAR CEO and chairman Brian France was arrested Sunday night and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to Bob Pockrass of ESPN.

A news release from the Sag Harbor Village Police Department states the arrest occurred at 7:30 p.m. and France was held overnight before being released following his arraignment Monday morning.

Police said he was in possession of oxycodone pills.

"Mr. France was observed operating a 2017 Lexus northbound on Main Street failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign," the news release said. "Upon traffic stop, it was determined that Mr. France was operating said vehicle in an intoxicated condition."

His blood-alcohol level was reportedly twice the legal limit, according to TMZ.
