Cole Custer: Team issued penalty after Charlotte
Custer and his No. 41 team have been penalized following the Charlotte Roval for slowing on the final lap, Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports reports.
Analysis:
Custer noticeably slowed up on the back stretch and ended up blocking in some cars and let teammate Chase Briscoe through. The move gave Briscoe enough points cushion to advance to the Round of 8. The No. 41 team will be docked 50 driver and owners points and both Custer and crew chief Mike Shiplett have been fined $100,000. Shiplett has also been suspended indefinitely by NASCAR. Stewart-Haas Racing will appeal the penalty and a final decision should be made in the next week.
