Kasey Kahne looks for 1st Sprint Cup win of the season at Charlotte
Kasey Kahne has yet to take a trip to Victory Lane this season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and his best chance to do so may be on Sunday in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The 35-year-old is a four-time winner at Charlotte, including three Coca-Cola 600 victories.
Kahne was second quickest in the final practice session for Sunday night's race. His fastest speed around the 1.5-mile oval was 187.052 mph, just 0.245 mph behind the fastest car, driven by Kurt Busch.
He will face a tough task on Sunday night, when he tries to climb from 33rd to the front of the 43-car field. If his No. 5 Chevrolet is as quick as it was in practice, he should have a good chance to do it.
The Enumclaw, Wa. native currently sits 5th in the Sprint Cup driver standings. He has not left the top-10 in the standings this campaign.
With a victory this weekend, it will guarantee Kahne a spot in the Chase for the Championship for the fourth consecutive season.
