Cody Ware: Losing Sponsors because of Shutdown
Rick Ware Racing Owner Rick Ware said the shutdown of racing due to the coronavirus pandemic has "dramatically complicated things" from a financial standpoint, as his NASCAR Cup Series teams probably will "lose $600,000-800,000 in sponsorship", Sports Business Daily reports.
Analysis:
The shutdown of professional sports is hitting many teams hard, but especially in NASCAR due to the reliance on corporate sponsorship. RWR is facing a loss of close to $800,000 due to the shutdown. The team had adequate sponsors before the Coronavirus ceased all NASCAR racing, but will face an uncertain future and funding shortfalls when racing resumes.
