Darrell Wallace Jr.: Loses Sponsor after Bristol iRace
On Sunday afternoon, Ben Blessing was in his home in Tennessee, running around his living room screaming, "I ain't paying him a cent." Blessing is referring to Darrell "Bubba" Wallace Jr., the NASCAR driver that Blessing's company Blue-Emu agreed to sponsor for the virtual iRacing event on Sunday at Bristol Motor Speedway, Action Network reports.
Analysis:
Wallace had an early-race accident with Clint Bowyer which damaged both cars in the early laps. Wallace appeared to show disgust after the run-in and decided to quit the race after the incident. Blue Emu's owner tweeted out that he didn't pay for Wallace to quit, so the company is ending all ties with the driver. Richard Petty Motorsports reached out to Blessing after the race and informed him he would not be invoiced for Sunday's sponsorship in the virtual Bristol race.
