Martin Truex Jr.: Engine Failure Ends Day
Truex Jr. suffered an engine failure and finished 35th in the Pocono 400 at Pocono Raceway Sunday afternoon.
Analysis:
It was clear early on that Truex's Toyota wasn't quite to his liking. He battled poor starting position and heavy traffic through the first stage. On lap 91 his Toyota Camry would begin to belch white smoke from the exhaust and he headed to the pit area. Upon close examination the team had Truex cut the ignition and shut it down. The engine had a critical failure and the team was done for the day. It was Truex's second DNF of the season, and a huge setback given the team's current momentum.
