Chase Elliott: Fifth-Place at Dover
Elliott finished fifth in the Gander RV 400 at Dover International Speedway Monday afternoon.
Analysis:
For the first 150 laps, Elliott looked like he would make this race a runaway. He quickly jumped out to the lead by a wide margin and was lapping cars at an incredible pace. The driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet would be closely paced by Kyle Larson though in the first stage. Elliott would lead a race-high 142 laps before his reign at P1 would end. The second-half of the race would see Martin Truex Jr. take over, and Elliott was in pursuit mode from that point on. He would cross the finish line fifth at lap 400, and claim his third Top-5 finish of the season.
