Chase Elliott: Third at Talladega
Elliott finished third in the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway Sunday afternoon.
Analysis:
Elliott was a man on an island in the closing laps of this thrilling battle. He was the only Chevrolet in a pack of Fords racing at the front during crunch time. That would serve to hamper Elliott's chances for the win, but he'd battle forward nonetheless. Once the outside line gained some momentum, he would jump out in front of it and ride the train from fifth to third, but that was as far as he'd get by the finish line. It was Elliott's third Top 5 of the season, and he climbs two spots into 18th-place in the championship standings as a result.
