Chase Elliott: Ninth-Place at Martinsville
Monday at Martinsville Speedway, Alex Bowman and Elliott led their Hendrick Motorsports teammates to the checkered flag with a pair of Top-10 finishes. Elliott finished close behind his teammate, Bowman, in ninth-place in the STP 500, hendrickmotorsports.com reports.
Analysis:
It took quite a number of laps before the No. 9 team could get the team's Chevrolet to Elliott's liking. He would have to receive the free pass back onto the lead lap on two occasions. However, Elliott would rally in stage 3. By the end of the race he'd finally crack the Top 10 and finish the STP 500 ninth. It was his third Top-10 finish of the season, and Elliott climbs into 18th-place in the series point standings as a result.
