Tony Stewart announced as cover driver for NASCAR ‘14
Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt Jr. are two of NASCAR’s drivers who have not delved into the world of social media, yet still remain the most popular in the sport. Last year, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was voted in by fans as the cover driver for NASCAR The Game: 2013 (on PC) and NASCAR The Game: Inside Line (console version). Now, Tony Stewart will grace the cover of the upcoming NASCAR ’14, which will be announced later today.
Stewart went head-to-head with Jeff Gordon in the final round of voting, but breezed by with 69% of the vote. Though Stewart isn’t on social media, his race team, Stewart-Haas Racing has 150,000+ followers on Twitter, and his personal fanpage has 600,000+ likes on Facebook.
"It's pretty humbling to me, because I don't do a lot of social media," Stewart told USA TODAY’s Jeff Gluck. "… When you're hurt and away from (racing), sometimes you can be forgotten about. That's something I haven't felt, because every time you go somewhere, somebody is there telling you they can't wait for you to get back or it's not the same (without him)."
Stewart mentioned that everything is on track with his healing process and he should be ready for Daytona at the start of next season.
NASCAR ‘14 is scheduled for release in early 2014 on the PlayStation® 3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® games and entertainment system from Microsoft, for the suggested retail price of $49.99.
