Texas Motor Speedway introduces their new screen, 79% bigger than the Cowboys' screen

It's the age-old adage: everything is bigger in Texas, and the news coming from Texas Motor Speedway holds true. Introducing "Big Hoss," the world's largest HD video board that'll be completed by and debuted at next year's Texas Cup race in April.

Some stats about the new screen:

  • Weighs 108 tons, 218 feet wide, and 94 feet tall
  • The screen will measure 20,666.64 square feet of 1080p HD video
  • 373 NASCAR Sprint Cup cars could fit inside the screen
  • At 218.37 feet of screen display, making it bigger than the Lincoln Memorial
  • 9 Alamos could fit inside the screen area
  • 4,792,320 million pixels
  • It will display 281 trillion different colors
  • Bigger than 2 jumbo jets

It was only a few years ago that Jerry Jones introduced his 11,520 square foot big screen at Cowboys stadium, but Texas Motor Speedway president Eddie Gossage just trumped Mr. Jones - by a lot. "Big Hoss" will be 79% bigger than the screen at Cowboys Stadium. Here's the trailer

Lost in the news about the new technology is the fact that next year's Texas race will revert back to Sunday afternoon, instead of Saturday night. A full NASCAR schedule hasn't been released yet, but we'll report back when that it.
