Martin Truex Jr. capped one of the most successful and dominant seasons in NASCAR history after he was crowned as the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup series champion at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday.
"I've wanted this since I was a little kid," Truex told reporters after winning the Ford EcoBoost 400, according to Yahoo Sports.
"Never give up, no matter what kind of crap you go through. This is unbelievable, a dream come true. Just really thankful, really grateful."
After finishing in 11th last season, Truex Jr. was first atop the driver standings with 5,040 points. Kyle Busch placed second with 5,035 points, while Kevin Harvick finished third with 5,033 points, respectively.
