3 times the UFC electrified Easter weekend

David Manning / USA TODAY

It pays to work on your day off.

For the most part, the UFC has steered clear of Easter weekend, but the four cards that it has held during the statutory holiday have produced a number of memorable moments.

With apologies to Tim Sylvia's heavyweight title win at UFC 59, here are the three times the UFC made the most of its Easter festivities:

Roger Huerta, coverboy (UFC 69, April 7, 2007)

UFC 69 will forever stand out for the main event that saw Matt Serra take out Georges St-Pierre to capture the welterweight championship in the biggest MMA upset of all time.

But the card's place in history was already cemented earlier in the night thanks to a photographer named Greg Nelson.

During an exciting lightweight tilt between Roger Huerta and Leonard Garcia, Nelson managed to catch Huerta at the perfect moment just as he was delivering a dramatic kick:

The striking image ended up on the cover of Sports Illustrated, making Huerta the first MMA fighter to be featured on the front of the long-running magazine. Years later, Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor would join the list, but it was Huerta's face that once represented the rise of the UFC.

Down goes Dos Anjos (UFC on FOX 11, April 19, 2014)

Rafael dos Anjos currently holds the UFC lightweight belt and he's on an incredible 10-1 run, with convincing wins over the best of the 155-pound division.

The one loss during that stretch came against undefeated Russian fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov. And it wasn't all that close.

For three rounds, Nurmagomedov showed off the grappling expertise that has carried him to a spotless 22-0 record. He outperformed Dos Anjos in every aspect of the game en route to 30-27 scores from all three judges.

Nurmagomedov hasn't fought since due to a series of injuries, while Dos Anjos went on to win his next five including a UFC title fight. The two are guaranteed to meet again if Nurmagomedov can make a successful comeback against Tony Ferguson in April.

The birth of "Raging Al" (UFC Fight Night 63, April 4, 2015)

It takes a lot to stand out in the UFC's loaded lightweight division. For better or for worse, Al Iaquinta found a way at UFC Fight Night 63.

Iaquinta was already known as "Raging" before his fight with Jorge Masvidal, but he made sure the name stuck with his post-match response to a Fairfax, Va., crowd that booed Iaquinta after he won a controversial split decision:

"Are you guys booing me?" Iaquinta asked the jeering fans. "You better not boo me. I f--king fought my ass off! F--k you! I fought my ass off tonight!"

Iaquinta then abruptly left the cage, looking like he was ready to go another three rounds with anyone who dared to question his performance.
