A knee injury has forced former World Series of Fighting strawweight champion Jessica Aguilar to pull out of her UFC 197 bout with Juliana Lima.
Aguilar made the announcement on Facebook:
I'm disappointed to announce that unfortunately I have had to withdraw from my upcoming fight with Juliana Lima at UFC 197 due to an injury sustained during training. I tore my ACL and will be undergoing surgery this upcoming Tuesday to repair the injury and start the road to recovery. I have a great doctor and team around me, I'm confident that with their expertise, love and support, along with my determination to make a full recovery as fast as possible, I will be back in the Octagon before you know it. I'm focused on getting healthy and becoming the UFC Champion.
The UFC is reportedly looking for a new opponent for Lima (8-2), who picked up wins over Nina Ansaroff and Ericka Almeida after losing to current champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk in her debut.
UFC 197 takes place April 23 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
