Veteran heavyweight Alistair Overeem announced Monday that he's signed a new deal to remain with the UFC.

Overeem became a free agent following a December win over Junior dos Santos, with both the UFC and Bellator thought to be in pursuit of the 35-year-old.

Owning a 40-14 record over 17 years as an MMA fighter, Overeem sports a 5-3 mark since joining the UFC in 2011, including a debut at UFC 141 in which he came away with a TKO win over Brock Lesnar.

Overeem later confirmed his next fight will be May 8 as a headliner of UFC Fight Night at the Ahoy Rotterdam in the Netherlands, but he didn't say who his opponent will be.
