Dana White open to McGregor fighting for 2 UFC titles
The UFC's policy of restricting champions from competing for two championships simultaneously apparently does not apply to Conor McGregor.
Shortly after winning the featherweight title in December, McGregor reiterated his plans to pursue the lightweight belt as well. On Wednesday, UFC president Dana White made an appearance on "UFC Tonight," where he gave McGregor his blessing to do so.
Dana White on UFC Tonight just said he's open to letting Conor chase after two titles without vacating featherweight.

White has usually been cautious about allowing a fighter to potentially hold two titles, with the fear that an injury might stall two divisions for a prolonged period of time. In the case of McGregor, it would seem that big-money matches looming in both weight classes is enough to make White reverse course on the issue.
If "Notorious" is able to capture both the 145 and 155-pound title, he would become only the third fighter to win UFC championships in two divisions. The other two, Randy Couture and B.J. Penn, did not hold multiple belts at the same time.
