Bisping: Anderson Silva was 'on the juice the whole time'
Michael Bisping has always been keen on fighting Anderson Silva.
Even when Silva was an unkillable beast ruthlessly reigning over the UFC's middleweight division, Bisping wanted to test his mettle against the legendary Brazilian.
In light of Silva's recent precipitous fall from grace, following multiple failed steroid tests and the shaky excuses he gave the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Bisping has lost interest in facing the pound-for-pound great.
"You know, to be honest, I've always wanted to fight Anderson Silva,” Bisping told MMAjunkie.com's Brent Brookhouse. "Everybody knows that. That's been well-documented. But, I don't know if I feel the same about that right now. The fact is, I kind of said to myself recently, 'Anybody that tests positive for performance-enhancing drugs, I want no part of it.' As far as I'm concerned, you've been a cheat. I don't think that at 39 years old, having the career that Anderson Silva had, I don’t think you make the decision at 39 years old to try this new thing called steroids. I think he must have been on the juice the whole time.
"I've never used any of that stuff, and I don't see why I should have to fight people who have used those products. So, I don't know whether I would take a fight with Anderson Silva after that's all said and done."
Bisping was forced to pull out of his bout with Robert Whittaker at UFC 193 while recovering from surgery to remove bone chips from his arm, and isn't sure when he'll be back inside the Octagon.
"So, I had five or six loose bodies floating around inside the arm," Bisping said. "Little bits of bone that had chipped off. Just wear and tear I guess. It's not too much of a problem. As everyone knows, I had to pull out of the fight, unfortunately. The swelling has gone down already.
"I've already got movement back in the arm. I'm not back in the gym yet, per se. I've gone in there and had a little run and messed around with the weights a little bit. Nothing extreme. You know, I go out of my mind if I sit around too long."
