Barnett hasn't agreed to face Sonnen at Metamoris

A grappling match between Josh Barnett and Chael Sonnen hasn't been booked for Metamoris 7 in November, despite Sonnen's claims to the contrary.

"I'm going to take Josh down and then I'm going to whisper in his ear, 'Welcome to the next 20 minutes of your life.'" Sonnen told Submission Radio.

Turns out, Barnett hasn't agreed to face Sonnen, and he certainly wouldn't let the bout stretch out for the full 20 minutes.

"I couldn't think of a worse thing than to be anywhere with Chael Sonnen for 20 minutes," Barnett told Jon Anik and Kenny Florian, according to MMAFighting.com's David St. Martin. "There's no contract. Nothing has been signed on my end, but man, 20 minutes with Chael. I would be embarrassed to let it go that long to be perfectly honest. It wouldn't be a match.

"Maybe I'll lock him up in a few different things and let him go. Just keep going and give him a free private lesson that he got paid for."

Barnett has competed twice for Metamoris, submitting high-level BJJ black belts Ryron Gracie and Dean Lister. Sonnen, who retired from MMA after multiple failed drug tests, hasn't found nearly as much success in Metamoris, battling Renato "Babalu" Sobral to a draw in May after being submitted by Andre Galvao in 2014.

"For the most part, (Metamoris president) Ralek Gracie just throws names at me," Barnett said. "Who's available. Who's willing to get on the mat. The only opponents I've ever had were the ones that said, 'Yeah, I'll actually wrestle him.'"
