Dana White: Rousey vs. Cyborg would do 'over 2 million pay-per-view buys'
Dana White doesn't know whether a superfight between Ronda Rousey and Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino will ever materialize, but he's positive the potential matchup would shatter UFC pay-per-view records.
"I don't know (who wins), I think that's why the fight is so exciting," the UFC president said on "The Jim Rome Show" Wednesday, according to MMAFighting.com's Chuck Mindenhall. "There's no denying that Cyborg's a beast, man. She's tough, and many people believe - including me - that Ronda's the best in the world and the best female fighter ever. So it's one of those fights that's very intriguing. And I'll tell you this, Jim, when that fight happens I guarantee you that fight does over two million pay-per-view buys. It will be massive."
UFC 100, the promotion's best pay-per-view performer, did just over 1.5 million buys, and was powered by the box-office clout of Brock Lesnar and Georges St-Pierre.
"She's the greatest athlete that I've ever worked with, period. I wish I had 10 Ronda Rouseys," White said of the promotion's biggest star.
Of course, for Rousey-Cyborg to finally come to fruition, Cyborg would have to cut down to 135 pounds - a feat that's easier said than done, considering the Invicta FC featherweight champion is a massive 145-pounder.
"I want that fight," White said. "Ronda wants that fight, and I think everybody else wants to see that fight. Supposedly, sometime before the end of this year (Cyborg)'s supposed to cut down to 135 pounds, she will fight in Invicta, and if she fights that fight and wins, then Ronda will be next."
