Matt Brown: 'I'm pretty much indifferent to' Reebok deal
The MMA world was split earlier this week when the UFC announced the official breakdown of the promotion's exclusive sponsorship with Reebok.
A large contingent of fighters were vocal about their disappointment in Reebok's payouts, with Brendan Schaub mentioning he'd made six-figures in sponsorship money in his last bout and would only make $10,000 from Reebok under the new deal.
Welterweight contender Matt Brown is fighting Tim Means at UFC 189 on July 11, the first major card to feature Reebok as an exclusive sponsor, and unlike many of his contemporaries, Brown isn't concerned with his possibly diminished earning potential.
"I'm pretty much indifferent to it. I'm making similar numbers off it," Brown said on his podcast, The Great MMA Debate. "Gross numbers, I'm making similar numbers after paying management and different things. In that sense, it's better. Now I don't have to worry about chasing sponsors. I don't have to worry about posting 20 different social-media things for sponsors.
"What it comes down to is fighting, it doesn't come down to advertisement."
