Chad Mendes thoroughly debases Ricardo Lamas
Chad Mendes is a bad, bad man.
"Money" solidified his status as the best featherweight on the planet not named "Aldo," absolutely running roughshod over fellow former contender Ricardo Lamas in the main event at UFC Fight Night 63.
After a brief feeling out process, Mendes rocked Lamas with a hard right hand to the top of the dome, and followed it up with an onslaught of hammerfists. As Lamas desperately tried to recover, Mendes smashed him with a knee, eventually staggering "The Bully" to the base of the fence with a violent flurry.
From there, Mendes poured it on, unleashing a series of punches until referee Dan Miragliotta mercifully stopped the fight at 2:45 of the opening round.
With that galvanizing performance, Mendes will likely get a title shot no matter who emerges victorious between Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo at UFC 189 in July.
Best performance of Chad Mendes' career, given the opponent.
