NAC's Bennett: Jon Jones's testosterone tested clean before UFC 182
When the results of Jon Jones's December drug tests - a positive for benzoylecgonin, the primary metabolite in cocaine - were released to the public earlier this week, many were questioning his seemingly low testosterone-to-epitestosterone (T/E) ratio.
Jones was tested twice on Dec. 4, and his T/E ratios were .29 and .35 respectively. He was tested again on Dec. 18, and his T/E ratio was .19. All numbers are considered low for the average male.
These abnormal numbers led to an army of MMA fans and journalists calling for the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) to administer a carbon isotope ratio (CIR) test to see if his urine samples contained synthetic testosterone.
Apparently they already have, and Jones has nothing to worry about.
NAC executive director Bob Bennett told MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani that the commission performed CIR tests on all three samples, and found nothing out of the ordinary.
"His urine samples were tested, and according to our doctor he doesn't have a concern with the results of the urinalysis test at this time," Bennett said.
