VIDEOS: Top 5 UFC knockouts of 2014
A legend flattened a legend, Mark Hunt hit a walk-off home run (so to speak), and Dong Hyun Kim spun like a top in another spectacular year for knockouts in the UFC.
5. Henderson stuns Shogun
Dan Henderson's nose-flattening knockout of Mauricio "Shogun" Rua didn't have the showy glitz of a spectacular spinning wheel kick, or a chin-checking flying knee, but it was symbolic of everything that makes Hendo special.
The aging legend was being schooled by an equally shop-worn Shogun at a Fight Night event in March before violently shrugging off father time with a devastating "H-bomb."
4. Mark Hunt's walk-off
Very few fighters in the world have the power to crack Roy Nelson's granite beard with a single right hand. Even fewer can casually saunter away from the fallen Nelson fully confident that the mulleted behemoth is vanquished.
Mark Hunt is a rare breed, man.
3. Beal liquefies Williams
Nothing (well, almost nothing) is more beautiful than a perfectly placed, wonderfully executed flying knee.
Chris Beal put this rare beauty on full display against Patrick Williams in April, ending the 33-year-old veteran's night with a liquefying knee to the jaw.
2. Samman's dramatic head kick
Fighting on the anniversary of his late girlfriend's birthday, Ultimate Fighter veteran Josh Samman erased almost two rounds of exhausting wrestling/clinch work by Eddie Gordon with a scintillating head kick.
Gordon, who toppled like a redwood, was out before he hit the canvas, and Samman pocketed a cool $50,000.
1. Kim goes for a spin
Despite what the Diaz brothers have to say about "spinning sh--," there's just something special about a trained fighter ending the night of another trained fighter with spinning ultraviolence.
Dong Hyun Kim derailed the John Hathaway hype train in dramatic fashion at UFC Fight Night 37 in March, demolishing the Englishman's chin with one of the most breathtaking spinning back elbows in MMA history.
