With UFC 178 fight set, Jon Jones sends Daniel Cormier twitter message: 'Come to daddy'
It took Jon Jones just a few hours to get all up in the DMs.
MMA is very clearly a physical sport, but there is a cerebral game to be played as well, and the UFC light heavyweight champion has apparently gotten right to it now that Daniel Cormier is his opponent at UFC 178 in place of the injured Alexander Gustafsson.
According to the 15-0 Cormier, Jones has already hit him up with a direct message on Twitter. What's more, they allegedly don't follow each other, so Jones has some ninja DM skills (or Cormier just doesn't realize he's following the champ).
Here's Cormier's screen cap of the very brief, one-sided conversation on Instagram:
CAPTION: Guys how do you respond to someone on Twitter that doesn't follow you. I need this message to get to @jonnybones I didn't think I followed him , he knows something we don't. He just randomly sent me this lol. #newchamp
Our initial reaction is that this has the potential to be one of the most well-hyped fights in recent memory, considering Jones had already been asking for Cormier as an opponent before the Gustafsson rematch was set. The fight just better not be as lopsided as this hilarious exchange.
Please come soon, Sept. 27.
