Boxer James Toney challenges Rampage Jackson to a fight
Former IBF middleweight champion James Toney took to Instagram Monday, to challenge Bellator's Quinton "Rampage" Jackson to a boxing match. Referring to him as "Lambpage," Toney said he wants to face Jackson after his light heavyweight tournament finals match up with Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal.
The Jackson-Toney feud goes back as far as 2010. After receiving a beatdown by Randy Couture at UFC 118, Toney wanted to be on the card for UFC 123 in his native Detroit, saying "If they want to sell any tickets in Detroit, they should put me on there. B---- a-- Rampage can't sell no tickets in my hometown."
After Jackson responded by saying Toney was "writing checks that his ass can't cash", Toney has gone on to hit him with racially-charged barbs, calling Jackson "a black hillbilly" who "has the Klu Klux Klan behind him," "an Uncle Tom," and "a slave to the white man," as well as making comparisons to Lady Gaga.
Toney's recent challenge probably stems from a recent Instagram post by Jackson, where he captions a photo of himself and Floyd Mayweather Jr.:
"Still thinking i wanna go do some boxing.. Wonder if I should go talk 2 this guy. Cause James Tony keeps running his fat face!"
It's unclear as to whether Jackson's current deal with Bellator, which allows him to compete in TNA wrestling, would allow him to have a boxing match with Toney.
