Chael Sonnen bout taken off UFC 173 card, moves to main event in Brazil on May 31

UFC light heavyweight Chael Sonnen will have to wait before settling business against Wanderlei Silva.

The matchup, which was supposed to co-headline UFC 173, was taken off the card and moved as the headliner for an event in Brazil taking place on May 31, according to Globo. However, a venue or host city has yet to be named.

UFC 173 will now feature only Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort as the card's main event.

While taping for the The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3, Silva and Sonnen got into a physical altercation last month, UFC President Dana White told MMAWeekly.

"Wanderlei (Silva) and Chael (Sonnen) fought," White said. "Just today. They literally fought today, They went crazy, crazy s--- happened there," White said.

Their rivalry stems from a 2010 van ride, when Silva told Sonnen that he needed to "respect Brazil."

Since then, Sonnen has been caught peeing on Silva's car, prompting Silva to say, "Now this fight [is] gonna need [to] happen!! You want to see? I['ll] bite this mother-------," according to Caged Insider

Sonnen is 4-4 in his last eight UFC fights including a loss to Rashad Evans in his last fight at UFC 167. Silva has won three of his last eight fights, and defeated Brian Stann in his last fight at UFC on Fuel TV 8.
