White: McGregor 'keeps telling me' he wants White House fight
As far as UFC CEO Dana White is concerned, Conor McGregor has a genuine interest in fighting at the White House.
The promotion plans to host a fight card on the White House grounds on July 4, 2026, to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence. McGregor said last month he'd be "honored" to compete at the event.
"If you've seen, (McGregor has) been posting videos of himself training," White said on Wednesday's episode of the "Pardon My Take" podcast. "He's back in the (drug-testing) pool now. He wants the White House fight.
"If he starts getting in shape and training and stays the course, that's the fight he wants. He keeps telling me he wants that fight."
McGregor, a former two-division champion and the biggest star in MMA history, hasn't stepped into the Octagon since a loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021.
The 37-year-old Irishman was scheduled to return against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June 2024, but he withdrew due to an injury.
