White: Musk, Zuckerberg 'absolutely dead serious' about fight
A bout between tech billionaires Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg could soon be coming to pay-per-view.
During an appearance on "TMZ Live" on Thursday, UFC president Dana White revealed that he spoke to Musk and Zuckerberg following their viral exchange this week in which they seemingly agreed to square off in a cage match.
"I was talking to both Elon and Mark last night. Both guys are absolutely dead serious about this," White said.
The exchange started after Musk, who owns Twitter, responded to a tweet Tuesday about how Zuckerberg's company Meta is reportedly set to release a Twitter competitor called Threads. Musk joked that he's "sure Earth can't wait to be exclusively under Zuck's thumb with no other options," prompting one Twitter user to warn him about Zuckerberg's jiu jitsu training.
"I'm up for a cage match if he is lol," Musk tweeted.
Zuckerberg posted a screenshot of Musk's tweet on his Instagram story with the caption "send me location," to which Musk responded, "Vegas Octagon."
White told TMZ that he's on board to help organize the fight and believes it would surpass the revenue generated by the 2017 bout between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
"This would be the biggest fight ever in the history of the world. Bigger than anything that's ever been done," White said. "It would break all pay-per-view records. These guys would raise hundreds of millions of dollars for charity, and you don't have to be a fight fan to be interested in this fight. Everybody would want to see it."
