Surging UFC welterweight Ian Machado Garry is getting a big step up in competition for his next fight.

The Irishman will take on No. 8-ranked contender Geoff Neal at UFC 292 on Aug. 19 in Boston, the promotion confirmed to RTE Sport's Peter Carroll on Wednesday.

Garry kept his undefeated record intact in May by scoring his fifth straight UFC victory, defeating Daniel Rodriguez by first-round TKO. The 25-year-old debuted in the Octagon in late 2021 and has won three of his five bouts inside the distance.

He will likely join the top 10 if he passes the biggest test of his career against Neal, who is coming off a submission loss to Shavkat Rakhmonov in March but rattled off consecutive wins against Vicente Luque and Santiago Ponzinibbio before that.

UFC 292 will feature two title fights: Champ Aljamain Sterling versus Sean O'Malley at bantamweight and champ Zhang Weili against Amanda Lemos at strawweight.
