White 'wouldn't be shocked' if Jones retires after Miocic fight

In Dana White's eyes, Jon Jones' career could be winding down.

"I wouldn't be shocked ... if he fights Stipe (Miocic) and then retires and doesn't fight again," the UFC president told TMZ Sports.

Jones, 35, returned to the Octagon earlier in March after three years out of competition, submitting Ciryl Gane in just over two minutes to capture the vacant UFC heavyweight title.

White said after the fight that Jones would make his first defense against former champion Miocic, though a date hasn't been set. Jones tweeted last week that it was "more than likely" the matchup would take place at UFC 290 in July. Miocic also expressed interest in challenging Jones at the International Fight Week pay-per-view event.

Jones said after beating Gane that he would step into the cage at least once more but wouldn't commit beyond that. He signed a new eight-fight deal with the UFC before the bout.

Jones, widely considered the greatest MMA fighter of all time, has been in the UFC since 2008. He was the light heavyweight champion twice before moving up to heavyweight.
